How to take care of figure skates?
Taking care of figure skates is very simple, and it helps extend their lifespan.
-
After each skating session, carefully dry the blades with a soft cloth.
-
Never put wiped blades back into wet plastic guards! Always place them in soft blade covers (fabric guards) that absorb any remaining moisture.
-
Use plastic guards when walking between the locker room and the ice to protect the blade edges.
-
You can clean figure skates with soapy water. We also offer professional boot waterproofing services.
-
Regularly check and sharpen your skates (every 5-6 weeks; for beginners, every 2 months) or as needed. Always have your skates sharpened only by professional skate sharpeners. Our company has been offering professional sharpening for 9 years. More details here.
-
Always unlace your skates properly and let them air-dry at room temperature (never place them near a heater).
-
Never leave your skates in a hot car during summer! The heat can deform them.
-
For quick drying, odor absorption, and antibacterial protection, use moisture and odor absorbers – available here.
-
We check and tighten/replace screws every time you visit us for sharpening.
-
Always wear clean socks for each training session.
